New to Landman or need a refresher before Season 3? Here's everything you need — in order.

Quick Answer

Do you need to watch Landman in a specific order? Yes. Landman has no spin-offs, no timeline splits, and no parallel storylines in other shows. Watch Season 1 first, then Season 2. That's it.

2Season 210 episodesParamount+Nov 2025 – Jan 2026

There are no mid-season breaks within a season — episodes drop weekly on Paramount+. Both seasons are now fully available to stream in their entirety.

Do You Need to Watch Season 1 Before Season 2?

Yes, and it matters more than most shows. Landman is built on a slow accumulation of relationships, grudges, and deals. Characters introduced casually in Season 1 become central to Season 2's biggest plot turns. The cartel storyline that explodes in Season 2 is seeded in the very first episode. If you jump straight to Season 2, the emotional weight of the finale won't land.

If you're genuinely short on time, the bare minimum is Season 1 Episodes 1, 2, 9, and 10 — but watching all 20 episodes is about 18 hours total, and it's worth it.

Season 1 Recap: The Permian Basin Has Rules

Premiered: November 17, 2024 | Finale: January 19, 2025 | Episodes: 10

Tommy Norris navigating the West Texas oil fields in Landman Season 1
Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris — the man who keeps the Permian Basin running.

Season 1 introduces Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton), a "company man" — or landman — who fixes problems for Monty Miller's oil operation in the Permian Basin of West Texas. Tommy is divorced from Angela (Ali Larter), has two kids (Cooper and Ainsley), and a father, TL Norris (Sam Elliott), who is a legend in the oil patch. Cami Miller (Demi Moore) is Monty's glamorous wife, initially in the background.

The season's core engine: Tommy puts out fires — environmental disasters, cartel shakedowns, furious landowners, Wall Street demands — while his family quietly falls apart around him.

Season 1 Episode by Episode

S1E1 – "Landman" (Nov 17, 2024) A volatile gas kick outside Midland sets the tone: before sunrise, Tommy is juggling a cartel shakedown, furious landowners, and a boardroom crisis simultaneously. The pilot is an immediate immersion into the Permian Basin's brutal ecosystem — pipelines, families, regulators, and capital markets all pulling in different directions at once.

S1E2 – "Dreamers and Losers" (Nov 24, 2024) A sandstorm strands rig hands overnight just as Wall Street demands another production bump. Tommy renegotiates three leases and his own divorce terms in the same day. Angela's kitchen-table mineral map doubles as a lesson in oil economics — and how little security anyone in the patch actually has.

S1E3 – "The Sting of Second Chances" (Dec 1, 2024) An injection-well blowout drags environmental regulators, tribal representatives, and venture-backed drillers into a war room. The cleanup threatens to bankrupt a small operator faster than any cartel ultimatum — Sheridan's argument that the real danger in the oil patch is the paperwork.

S1E4 – "Pressure and Grace" (Dec 8, 2024) A fatality investigation collides with a pipeline tariff dispute. Tommy learns that compliance is its own form of character — safety briefings, notarized affidavits, and bureaucratic filings are intercut to show how the rules can be used both as shield and as weapon.

S1E5 – "Routine, Risk, Mercy" (Dec 15, 2024) A "routine" maintenance window exposes how many contractors Tommy's company keeps afloat — and how quickly a hedging mistake ripples through local banks. The episode lives in county clerk offices and pre-dawn safety walks.

West Texas oil fields at night — the world of Landman
West Texas after dark: the Permian Basin never stops producing — or demanding.

S1E6 – "Loyalty, Negotiated" (Dec 22, 2024) Multiple counties claim the same royalty stream, forcing Tommy to broker peace between ranchers, sovereign wealth funds, and a Nashville record label that somehow owns a third of the minerals. The season's most legally intricate hour — and one of its most revealing about how loyalty in the oil patch is always conditional.

S1E7 – "Hazard and Hospitality" (Dec 29, 2024) Hazard and hospitality try to occupy the same room. H2S monitors tucked behind bar neon, evacuation drills staged for VIP donors — the episode shows how West Texas cultures its contradictions. Cami becomes more prominent as she walks through liability and community politics.

S1E8 – "Speed vs. Accuracy" (Jan 5, 2025) Hedge-fund couriers demand instant production forecasts; field engineers need thirty more minutes to calibrate meters. Cami's refusal to round up a reading saves a rig hand from an unsafe pressure differential — and destroys Monty's creative accounting. Speed vs. accuracy is a tension the show will keep returning to.

S1E9 – "The Cost of Clarity" (Jan 12, 2025) When an arbitration ruling lands, every deal Tommy cut in the pilot comes due. The mathematics of indemnity, escrow, and hush money unfold like a thriller. Victims' families show up with spreadsheets. Tommy learns that clarity always charges interest.

S1E10 – "Settlements and Serenades" (Jan 19, 2025) The Season 1 finale braids settlements and serenades — a charity concert doubles as a bankruptcy hearing. Tommy sings an exhausted lullaby to the Basin. The climax hinges on a USB stick, an 1898 land grant, and a teenage livestream proving force majeure. The season ends with the pieces in place for a much larger collision.
