Spoiler warning: This recap covers the full plot of Tulsa King Season 4 Episode 1, "W.W.D.D.," including the plane-crash cliffhanger. For a spoiler-light critic roundup, see our Season 4 reviews. For schedule, cast, and Frisco King notes, see the Season 4 what-to-know guide.
Episode 1 dropped on Paramount+ on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026 (3:01 a.m. ET). Showrunner Terrence Winter is back as head writer. Season 5 is already confirmed, with production headed to New York.
The short version
Dwight tries to go fully legitimate under Friedman Enterprises. His crew mostly ignores him. He cuts a bourbon deal with Quiet Ray in New York. The hour ends with Joanne waking him to say Margaret and Governor Cal Thresher's private jet went down over the Pacific, with everyone aboard (including the pilots) appearing unconscious before the crash. The episode does not show wreckage or confirm bodies on screen.

Dwight launches Friedman Enterprises
Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) opens Season 4 by ordering the crew to drop illegal side hustles now that Montague Distillers has a liquor license and "the 50" can go nationwide. He rebrands the legit company as Friedman Enterprises (an anagram of Manfredi).
Almost nobody complies:
- Mitch plans to swap classic cars on his failing lot with wrecked twins, then burn the place for insurance money. Dwight even connects him to a DMV contact to forge registrations.
- Tyson and Spencer keep selling ecstasy at the club without Bodhi cooking.
- Tyson and Goodie rob rival dealer Santiago and Tyson shoots him when the robbery goes wrong. In hospital, a British boss who owns the product presses Santiago for answers.
- Bodhi is suspicious of expensive Barolo that restaurateur Leonardo Timpone pushes on Dwight after dinner with Margaret.
Quiet Ray, Bill, and a bowling-bag warning
In New York, Dwight meets Quiet Ray (James Russo). They bury the Season 2 hatchet for 25 percent of distillery profits and Northeast distribution. Ray agrees but will send an emissary to Tulsa.
At a family meeting, Ray presents himself as taking over the Invernizzi family (Vince as capo). Luca from Buffalo is absent: he objected and ends up with his head in a bowling bag, a Sopranos callback noted by Taste of Country.
Bill Bevilaqua (Frank Grillo) is out of federal custody and warns both sides not to trust the other, playing both Dwight and Ray.

Amanda Clark and Margaret's deal with Cal
Gretchen Mol debuts as Lieutenant Governor Amanda Clark. She refuses to shake Dwight's hand. Cal Thresher (Neal McDonough), now governor, transfers Fennario Ranch back to Margaret Devereaux (Dana Delany) for a token sum in exchange for her joining him at a governors' conference in the Mariana Islands.
After dinner with Dwight at Timpone's restaurant, Margaret boards Cal's private jet.
Ending explained: the Pacific crash
Late in the episode, Margaret, Cal, and both pilots appear unconscious on the overnight flight while air traffic control gets no reply. Joanne (Annabella Sciorra) wakes Dwight around 4:30 a.m. and says the plane went down over the Pacific.
TVLine and Taste of Country treat Margaret and Thresher as presumed dead, noting Paramount's Season 4 logline about Dwight's "crushing personal loss." The premiere itself shows no crash footage, wreckage, or confirmed fatalities on camera, and it does not name a cause (mechanical failure, sabotage, or otherwise).
Open questions the hour leaves hanging: why everyone on the jet was unconscious; whether Amanda Clark or anyone else is involved; whose side Bill is really on; and what Bodhi finds about Timpone's wine.
